Blame It on the Road to Rio
It’s never too early to start bolstering enthusiasm for the 2016 Olympics, taking place in Rio next summer. To that end, Samsung, a sponsor of the Olympics, asked Visual to help them develop and implement an experience that introduced their unique VR technology to the public, as part of a USOC Road to Rio tour sponsored by Liberty Mutual.
The Samsung Gear VR Experience debuted 4th of July weekend, right in Visual’s back yard on the Ben Franklin Parkway as part of the Independence Day festivities.
Participants were invited to demo Samsung’s Gear VR and could choose to view one of several Olympic sports including beach volleyball, gymnastics, diving and pole vaulting. This immersive, 360 degree video content used a Samsung mobile device and allowed attendees to feel the rigors of Olympic athlete training.
Samsung looked to Visual to help shape the brand experience as well as design, build and manage the perfect backdrop for their immersive event.
There will be eight more stops on this tour including San Diego, Boston, NYC and Chicago. Visual will be by Samsung’s side when it hits the road.
Hopefully audiences will award the Experience and the Gear VR a gold!
